Peggy's Place
May 2004
Well, things are exciting up here in the country; I've written a musical; it's for kids and it's called "What Happened on Mars". it will be performed at the Meagher School on Thursday June 17th.
But before that, I am off on a tour of Italy with my Italian friend/cohort saxophonist Giulio Martino. I'll be bringing back a CD (several cartons!) we made over there last tour; it has just been released, and it will be available on my website.
And here's some big news: I am artistic director for the Wall Street Jazz Festival, to be held in uptown Kingston, New York on July 10th, from 3 to whenever (12 midnight, max) outdoors, sky willing, indoors in case of rain.
This isn't just another jazz festival: the Wall Street Jazz Festival is special, because it features all bands led by women : Francesca Tanksley, Nina Sheldon, Jay Clayton, Teri Roiger, Sumi Tonooka, Erica Lindsay, Marilyn Crispell, and of course yours truly ... Also, featured are Laurel masse and Betty MacDonald. The only men present will be sidemen!! It should be a lot of fun, and certainly a little different!
